One thing that makes Lovebirds appealing is there small size - They're perfectly proportioned parrots with short tails and rounded heads. A tame lovebird can easily perch on your finger or settle in the palm of your hand, so remember, larger is not always better for all bird lovers.
The lovebird is never the less mighty in strength and personality. Lovebirds that have been hand-fed will usually go to strangers and are often content riding on someone's shoulder. They're full of energy, whether greeting the beginning of a new day or building a nest.
The reason for the name "Lovebird" is because of the fact that whenever more than one are housed together, they tend to huddle closely together on their perches. This strong physical connection with each other attributes of human characteristics to an animal the birds must be "in love." If there is only one lovebird they will automatically bond with there caretaker or it's owner.
Lovebirds can be trained at an early age when they have been handfeed. They are so tame after handfeeding the training takes less time. Simply put a hand-fed lovebird makes a wonderful pet. Its dispositions so different from the sometimes spiteful personality of a parent-reared bird.
